The International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) was adopted by International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1973, aiming at preventing and minimizing pollution from ships (e.g. emissions of SO2, NO2, O3). IMO keeps setting more rigorous standards for ship emissions in recent years, indicating that the monitoring and management of maritime pollution are in urgent need of a better solution. Due to the increasing pressure on regional environmental quality caused by ship emissions, the traditional onboard inspection method can not meet the authority's need for an innovative, high-efficient and accurate ship emission & fuel sulfur content (FSC) monitoring solution.

UAV-based ship emission & fuel sulfur content (FSC) monitoring system automatically estimates the fuel sulfur contents of
the ships using Soarability's proprietary advanced inversion algorithm.
By flying Sniffer4D into ship gas plumes, the sniffing system analyzes the gas composition in real-time, helping the authority identify potential ships
that use fuel out of legal standards for the long-term. The system also provides significant assistance for the prevention of pollution from ships.
